Tably now runs on iPad

The short version

A wider screen, not a wider list

Running on iPad is easy to do badly. The usual result is a phone layout inflated to fill a thirteen-inch display, where a row of text runs the whole width of the screen and a list of eight items looks like a spreadsheet.

Tably holds its content to a readable column instead. The column is a response to the window, not a fixed number: it is the same width whether the app is full screen, in Split View, or in a narrow window beside something else. At regular width, the three destinations — Home, Held, Settings — can move into a sidebar rather than a tab bar at the bottom.

Everything else is the app you already know. Share a page to Tably from Safari, add an optional Reason, choose when it should come back. When it returns, the Reason appears before the source, and Later, Done and Delete are all available without opening the page.

Your held pages do not follow you between devices

Tably has no account and no cloud storage. Everything you hold is saved on the device that held it. That has always been true, and installing 1.3 on an iPad does not change it.

In practice this means:

1. A page held on your iPhone will not appear on your iPad

   The two apps keep separate collections. Neither one can see the other.

2. Reminders belong to the device that scheduled them

   If you turned reminders on for your iPhone, your iPad will not deliver them until you turn them on there too.

3. Deciding on one device leaves the other unchanged

   Marking something Done on the iPad does not resolve the same page held on the phone.

If you want the loop on both devices, treat them as two places you hold things rather than one shared pile. Hold a page where you were reading it, and decide it there.

Five changes that are not about iPad

• RemindersYou can turn revisit reminders on right after your first Hold, and tapping one opens the decision itself rather than the list.

About Tably on iPad

Does Tably sync between my iPhone and iPad?

No. There is no account and no cloud sync. Held pages, Reasons and decisions stay on the device where you made them.

Is this a separate app or a separate purchase?

Neither. It is the same app and the same free download. If you already have Tably, updating to 1.3 is all that is needed.

Which iPads can run it?

Any iPad running iPadOS 17 or later.

Does it work in Split View and at other window sizes?

Yes. The layout responds to the window rather than to the device, so it stays readable when the app is sharing the screen.

Can I share pages to Tably from Safari on iPad?

Yes. The share extension works the same way it does on iPhone: share the page, add an optional Reason, choose when it comes back.

Is there a Mac version?

There is no Mac app. Tably is an iPhone and iPad app.
